The Business case for EQ - Iceberg As was preparing to deliver a two day open course programme for the Berlin School of Creative Leadership on Emotional Intelligence, I did some research on the business case for EQ.

One of the documents I came across, was THIS excellent one from 6Seconds.org. It has some great research on many facets of the value of EQ in business.

The quote that stands out for me from this is:

“EQ has twice the power of iQ to predict performance. EQ is also a better predictor than employee skill, knowledge, or expertise”

The document also references some excellent research around the power of EQ and provides a clear business case for EQ at work:

  • At PepsiCo executives selected for EQ competencies generated 10% more productivity.
  • High EQ sales people at L’Oreal brought in $2.5 million more in sales.
  • An EQ initiative at Sheraton helped increase market share 24%.
  • Amadori experienced a 63% reduction in turnover and manager EQ correlated positively with plant peformance.
  • The US Air Force is using EQ to screen Pararescue Jumpers to save $190 million.
  • At a major pharmaceutical company, an 8.9% increase in key team EQ was accompanied by double-digit profit growth.

It is clear that EQ may be essential to differentiating world-class organizations in an increasingly complex and competitive marketplace.

I work delivery EQ Training and/or EQ Assessment feedback with EQ-i or EQ-360. I am seeing this work have a significant impact across a range of cultures.
